Guide for NU Members
Entering
- Please bring your student ID card or staff ID card.
- You cannot take your bags with you inside, please put them in a at the entrance of the library.
- Please be quiet and do not eat or drink in the library.
Reading
- Books in Law Library are arranged by the call number and placed in the closed bookstacks 1 to 3. The materials which 1st of call number is "雑誌" (it means journals in Japanese) are in Journal's Stack 1 and 2.
- The materials in Reading Room, Journal's Stack 1 and 2 are accessible to all users.
- The staff fetch the books placed in the closed book stacks. Please fill out the request form and submit it to the staff. To the GSL members, the card key to enter the closed book stacks are loaned.
- Please contact us in advance to use microfilms, microfiches, audio-visual aids, electoric materials.
- Service hours for materials that require special handling is 9:30-12:00 and 13:00-16:30.
Materials that "Location" is "Law"
- Available by visiting Law Library.
- If the material's status is "in laboratory", it means that the professor is using it. Please ask the staff to use it. Materials will be available a few days later. *Some materials may not be available.
Materials that "Location" is "Law Asian Law Library"
- Available by visiting Asian Law Library.
- Service hours is 12:30-17:00 on week days.
- At the time other than above, please visit Law Library.
- If the material's status is "in laboratory", it means that the professor is using it. Please ask the staff to use it. Materials will be available a few days later. *Some materials may not be available.
Materials in rare books room
- Please make an application to use in advance.
- It is not permitted to borrow and make a copy.
- Service hours are 9:30-12:00 and 13:00-16:30.
- It is displayed as "貴重書室" in the fourth of call number.
Materials that "Location" is "Law CJL" or "Law ASCI"
- They cannot be borrowed or copied because they are held on overseas satellite campuses.
Borrowing
- Only the Nagoya University members can borrow the books from Law Library.
- You have to keep the books in your study room (except undergraduate students).

(*)For undergraduate students, Long-term Lending is permitted as follows:
- Long-term loan for summer vacation
- Checkout date: one week before the first day of summer vacation.
- Due date: class start day. The graduating students have to return until the day of graduation ceremony.
- Long-term loan for winter vacation
- Checkout date: one week before the first day of winter vacation to the last opening day of December
- Due date: class restart day
- Long-term loan for spring vacation
- Checkout date: one week before the first day of spring vacation
- Due date: class start day. The graduating students have to return until the day of graduation ceremony.
Remarks
- All periodicals are in-library use only.
Renewal
- Those who meet the criteria in Table 1 (II) may renew their loan period without limitation for the duration of their enrollment.
- The following people are able to renew the loan period up to twice before the due date and only when there is no reservation of other users (You can not renew the books of long-term loan period).

Returning
- Return materials that you borrowed to the circulation desk within the due date.
- When the library is closed, return them to the book drop outside (located in front of the library).
- Materials that you borrowed from another library, please return them to that library.
Photocopying
- Copyright law should be strictly observed by all library users when making copies of library materials.
Copy Order and Loan Order
- If you cannot find the item which you are looking for at the Nagoya University Libraries, you can request loans or photocopies from other university libraries.
- We accept an application only from the School of Law, GSL and CALE members.
- Please confirm whether or not Nagoya University libraries hold the materials you need by OPAC. Some journals are available electronically on the Web. Please check Nagoya University electronic Journal DataBase.
- Nagoya University Library bears a part of the charge of ILL from April, 2013. For more detail, please see the document

How to order
- You can request the Inter-Library Services via the internet. Access OPAC and choose the menu InterLibrary Copy Request/Loan Request in the left side of the screen.
- You need to enter Nagoya University ID and the password to login.

- We accept an application only from the School of Law, GSL and CALE members.
- Please make an application in advance since we have to inquire before your visit.
